Joe, I am aware of some Morgan's men were captured and spent time as POW of the yanks. I believe I have read that most of those captured were on General Morgan's headquarters staff. I also noted that like other brave Confederate Soldiers, they did not give up the fight, they escaped, and lived to fight on another day.

As I posted in a prior message. Morgan's men were adverse to signing
a loyalty oath that promised to support the United States. My GG Grandfather, George Cornelius Vandiver, and a fellow soldier refused to sign the oath after their unit was surrendered in Bristol, TN. As a result of their refusal, they had their horses and saddles confiscated and walked from Bristol, TN. to rejoin their family in Jackson County, GA., a distance of approximately 200 miles, but their Southern Pride was intact.

I have a book authored by one of Morgan's Generals that commanded a unit accompanying General Morgan's men. that does not mention individuals in the 13th/16th Battalion Georgia Calvary, but mentions "The Georgians" as being brave soldiers.

According to the above book, the Colonel who organized and commanded the Georgia Calvary unit, was killed in the first engagement with U.S. Troops. He was shot in his leg and bleed to death because they could not get the blood stopped.
