Annelle, I do not think that William C. Mobley who was married to Minerva Jane Byers and who was living in Marshall County, Mississippi in 1860 is Capt. William W. Mobley.

I think that the above William C. Mobley of Marshall County may be the same William C. Mobley who served in the 2nd Partisan Rangers. William C. Mobley of Marshall County had a brother, Pleasant M. Mobley, who served in that same regiment. I have not read the CMSR of William C. Mobley of the 2nd Partisan Rangers, but I would suggest that you check this record for information that would provide clues to his identity. I do not have access.

Yes, there is listed William H. Hall who served in the First Battalion Sharp Shooters, but I am not certain that he is William Hunter Hall who lived in Marshall County, Mississippi in 1860. Here is the census:

Name: Wm H Hall (William Hunter Hall)
Age: 38
Birth Year: abt 1822
Birth Place: Georgia
Home in 1860: Township 5 Range 2, Marshall, Mississippi
Post Office: Waterford
Family Number: 336
Household Members:
Name.................Age
Wm H Hall..........38
Harriet A Hall......31
Sarah J Hall........11
Lucius Hall...........7
Charlotte Hall.......6
Wm Hall..............4
Tennesee Hall.......8/12

Year: 1860; Census Place: Township 5 Range 2, Marshall, Mississippi; Roll: M653_587; Page: 274; Image: 278; Family History Library Film: 803587

I do not think that William Hunter Hall and William C. Mobley both of Marshall County had a family connection at the time of the war. William C. Mobley had a daughter, Carrie Elizabeth, who married someone named Hall, but this would have been about the year 1890, and I have not a clue to his identity. She later married someone named Pilgrim.

I do encourage you to check the CMSR of William C. Mobley of the 2nd Partisan Rangers.

Why do you think that William W. Mobley is from Marshall County?

Best regards----
