Coincidentally, this man preceded Mobley as captain of Co. A, 1st Battalion, Mississippi Sharp Shooters. Mobley replaced him as captain when Caruthers was appointed Surgeon. He eventually served as Brigade Surgeon for both Richardson's and Rucker's Brigades in Forrest's Cavalry.
