Anna, see if he was originally in the European Brigade in New Orleans. Their were three Battalions formed from non-English Speaking men who were assigned to protect property in New Orleans. After the city fell many went to Camp Moore and we're assigned to new units that ultimately fought at Vicksburg. I'm sure his name is spelled several different ways.
