Thanks for the additional information.

I did find is my files the Hemphill family Bible belonging to Charles Hemphill, Sr., my ggg grandfather and father of both Andrew J. and Charles R., both of the 31th Mississippi. Charles, Jr. is shown as born on April 11, 1838 and his death as Nov. 30, 1864. Some one had lightly penciled in "Franklin, Tenn." beside Charles' death date.

For anyone who may wish to traces the Hemphill family, the family Bible of Phillip Walker Hemphill, Charles, Sr.'s brother, is on file at the Darlington School in Rome, GA. Both brothers came to Mississippi from Georgia.
