Robert E. Paxton of Vicksburg served as a private in (New) Co. E., 9th Mississippi Infantry. He was wounded at Resaca, and applied for service in the Invalid Corps stating that his right arm had been amputated below the elbow. He received a discharge under a certificate of disability Jan. 31, 1865.
