Fletcher for 12 months, killed in battle Gettysburg July 2, 1863

* This company was successively designated as Captain Fletcher's Company, Mississippi Volunteers, and as Captain Fletcher's Company, (Old) Company D, and (New) Company I, 13th Regiment Mississippi Infantry.

James R. Fletcher, age 30, born in Mississippi, Post Office Kascinsko, 6' 3", 1st Sergeant, Minute-Men of Attala (L. D. Fletcher, Captain), joined for duty and enrolled May 13, 1861 at Corinth, Miss. by L. D. Fletcher for 12 months, reverted to rank of Private, n.d., detailed as Commissary Sergeant, September, 1862, wounded in knee at Gettysburg, July 2, 1863, captured and in hospital, sent to Provost Marshal, New York, July 21, 1863, among sick and wounded received at DeCamp General Hospital, Davids Island, New York Harbor, July 17-24, paroled August 24, 1863, admitted Episcopal Church Hospital, Williamsburg, Va., August 28, gunshot wound left knee, furloughed September 3, captured near Knoxville, November 29, 1863, forwarded to Military Prison, Louisville, Ky., discharged to Rock Island Barracks, Illinois prison camp December 31, transferred for exchange March 2, 1865, no further records
