Thanks, David for all the info. I had suspected that the Jackson depots were the likely source of what Adams's men received. Of course, Sherman's forces had destroyed some of the depot and arsenal stores after taking the city the month before. At the time of this issue of uniform items, ADams's regiment were encamped about the ruins of Mechanicsburg, which the Federals had destroyed the week before in an advance from Snyder's Bluff and Vicksburg.
