Quartermaster requesitions, Wood's Confed. Cav.

On June 9, 1863, during the Vicksburg Campaign, Wirt Adams's Confederate (Mississippi and Alabama) Cavalry Regiment came under the commmand of Brig. Gen. William H. "Red" Jackson's cavalry brigade, then operating with Gen. Joe Johnston's so-called Army of Relief in central Mississippi. At Mechanicsburg, Mississippi, on this date, a number of companies of Adams's (Wood's) regiment received quartermaster distributions, mainly uniform items, jackets, pants, shirts, etc., usually in numbers for about half of each company.

For those of you guys who know more about this than I, where would the records, should they exist/survive, be traced which might locate the source of these supplies? Other than soldier letters how might a description of the goods, which would give some idea of the appearance of the uniform items, be found?
