This all comes down to:

A. W. Malone (B) enlisted as a Private in Company B, 41st Mississippi Infantry June 14, 1862 in New Orleans by Captain Deaver for a period of 12, months, re-enlisted for the war February 1, 1864, sent to the hospital March 4, 1863 by order of the Surgeon, present on April 1, 1864 at Dalton, Georgia, present on August 31, 1864, he was paid on September 9, 1862 a clothing allowance of $52.50 for the period May 1, through August 31, 1862, later on April 13, 1863 his was paid for 30 days "Commutation of Rations" for the period ending April 10, 1863, amount not stated

All those who had enlisted for 12 months previous to the 14th March, re-enlisted at that time for 3 years. All those who have the letter (B) affixed to their names have received their bounty.

Record of Events, Company B, Company Muster Roll for May 1 to August 31, 1864, stationed at Jonesboro, Georgia

This company with Regiment entered entrenchments in front of Dalton, Ga on night of 5 of May. Marched and counter marched between that place and Resacaa and was engaged in the combat at the latter place. During the 14 and 15 May fell back on the night of the 15 towards Cassville, at which place, it arrived on the 18 - participated in the fight at that place on the 19th. withdrew that night going in the direction of the Etowah River and bivouacked on the east side of that river until the morning of the 25 - then took up line of march towards New Hope and entrenched where it was engaged skirmishing for several day. Skirmished occasionally through the campaign until we occupied the entrenchment around Atlanta - participated in the battle of the 22 and 28 July near Atlanta - was constantly under the enemies fire or engaged in picket fighting while the army remained around Atlanta. We are now near Jonesboro confronting the enemy.
