My information source on A. W. Malone was his Confederate Pension Application and his subsequent application for increase and his widow's application after his death. I also have the information on the Coon family but did not know of the desertion. A.W. died in 1910 in Sharp Co. AR and was my great-great-grandfather. His pension application was confirmed by two doctors and was witnessed by one of the Leavell brothers. He gave a detailed narrative of his service and the various battles he fought in within the pension application. His pension was approved as was his application for increase and his widow's application after his death. I am not sure why he does not appear where you are looking.
