Some of the men of the 7th Mississippi, who were brigaded with the 41st, got caught in Alabama after the furlough and were surrendered under Richard Taylor. It may be possible that he was unable to go with the 41st to the Carolinas and did what these men from the 7th did and reported for duty there.

My 2nd great-grandfather Richard Chaddick brought a bayonet home from the war but he is not listed among the surrender rolls of either Johnston or Taylor. I also would love to see a casualty list of Franklin. Sadly, the records of the 7th Mississippi disappear after August, 1864.
