Alan,

At least two of the officers of this unit had prior Confederate service.

2nd. Lieut. H. G. D. Brown signs the roll at Camp Easterling as commander of Company E. Hezekiah George David Brown was a graduate of the (or what became) U. S. Naval Academy according to a narrative written by a grandson. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3274648&id=I650097799 He served as Captain of H. G. D. Brown's Company, Seven Stars Artillery, Army of Mississippi which was mustered into Confederate service at Camp Clark, Bay St. Louis, MS on September 1, 1861.

I believe Colonel William K. Easterling is the same Captain (CO D)/ Lieut. Colonel William K. Easterling of this unit.
