Thanks so much for adding information. Here's a link to my info on the military history of the Roberts clan from Camden County. Not surprising that Leroy Roberts / his family would end up in Vernon County - he started a mercantile there in 1858. I'm guessing it was burned during the burning of Nevada in 63.

Still searching for any documentation on John Ulman. There was a John Ulman in this area - he would have been 53 by that time. Chances are there was a younger version that served with Company I. It says Capt. Roberts was the administrator of his estate. I can't imagine having time to administer an estate while serving in the CSA. Many of the estates around here weren't probated until after the war. I"m guessing John Ulman was serving with Roberts at the time of his death. Just a guess though.
