It's easy to forget that there was a systematic process taking place and that the deaths of many of these men were not just random acts of war. Let us remember the execution of Peter Adams Hanger in Reynolds County for what it was. Let us not forget the murdered Reed men of Shannon County. All hunted down like dogs in February and March of 1865 by the 7th Kansas and the 17 Illinois. These were just the first to come to mind this morning as I read the comments above. There were many more whose names have not survived time and altered history.
