Thank you all for some great information. Our family history on Thomas Conner was written down and I'm pretty sure it's an accurate accounting - with a lot of missing pieces. This is really all I could find on Missouri Digital Heritage under MO Union Provost Marshal Papers:
…........ Callaway 8-6-1862 F1587 0697 2006
Affidavit of Sherman Zumwalt. Group of men suspected of wanting to join guerrilla bands under Cobb and Porter. [Thomas Conner, John Gilmore, Thomas Gilmore, Jesse Winsel, Josiah Berget, Peter Bryant, Jacob Winterbowers, Peter Rice

I can find nothing further but know most in Callaway County accused of disloyalty against the Union went to the Gratiot Street Prison in St Louis until they could get a hearing. Thomas Conner and Peter Rice were related and both originally came from Virginia with their families, so I know I'm on the right track - just need to keep plodding along and hopefully find out someday when they died and maybe how, and definitely where they are buried so we can make sure they have CW stones and dedication.

Thanks so much for all of your help.
