thanks alan...the hand me down story goes that Fournet and a few of his officers, tired of being passed over, and every time they consolidated with other units, the other men were given higher ranks... was the reason they resigned their commands and walked off...but, wouldn't that constitute being a.w.o.l. or desertion ? Gabriel Fournet went on to be a District Judge in Lake Charles,La. post war.
