With apologies, I forgot to mention Camp Vincent. Camp Vincent was the site where the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry was first mustered as such. It was sited along Bayou Lafourche, 4 miles below Donaldsonville, on the plantations of Charles Anton Kock (St. Emma Plantation - west side of the bayou) and James Hewitt (Crescent Plantation - east side of the bayou).

Camp Vincent was the site of the first combined action of the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry, a skirmish (or small battle) with the 21st Indiana Infantry on 23 Sept. 1862. Breazeale's Battalion of 5 companies was ordered to report to Col. Vincent from Thibodeauxville on 21 Sept. and arrived at Camp Vincent late on 22 Sept., reporting to Col. William G. Vincent, formerly Col. of the 1st LA Infantry Regiment in Virginia. Col. Vincent had his headquarters, and that of the 2nd LA Cavalry, at the Kock plantation (St. Emma).
