He is listed on the 1860 Desoto Parish census as Dan'l Adams with wife Rachel, which matches the pension application. The abbreviation may be what threw Ancestry.com off. I've haven't considered placing a headstone; his wife apparently never remarried and is buried with other of my ancestors in Desoto Parish. I guess that would be an appropriate thing to do. Thanks.
