Daniel F. Adams of the 19th LA Infantry (Co. H) and the 2nd LA Cavalry (Co. E) are indeed one and the same. After being discharged from the 19th LA Infantry for disability on 23 January 1862, he signed up for a company of Breazeale's Battalion of Partisan Rangers at Pleasant Hill on 27 June 1862, that was being recruited by Dr. Scrimzeour Cornwall Furman (De Soto Parish) and Joseph F. Scarborough (Natchitoches Parish). Furman and Scarborough recruited men from Natchitoches, Sabine and De Soto Parishes in the summer of 1862 for a partisan ranger unit in Breazeale's Battalion - later to be the 33rd Regiment of Louisiana Partisan Rangers for a very short time, and then the 2nd LA Cavalry (Sept. 1862). The 5 companies of Breazeale's Battalion provided half or 5 of the 10 companies of partisan rangers used to make up the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry in September 1862.

Daniel F. Adams was mustered into Co. D of Breazeale's Battalion on August 11, 1862 at Bethel, LA. This Company then joined the other 4 companies of Breazeale's Battalion at Camp Butler, 2 miles from Natchitoches, LA, on 14 August 1862. After a week of organization and training, they were mustered into State and Confederate service on 21 August 1862. On 21 August 1862, the Battalion began its march toward Camp Pratt, near New Iberia, arriving there on the 10th or 11th of September 1862.

In January 1863, while serving at or near Fort Bisland, Daniel Adams was detailed to provide care for Pvt. James S. Scarborough and 1st Sgt. John Coleman Sibley of Co. E, both of whom were seriously ill. They were being cared for at the plantation home of Wyatt and Mary Moyes near Centerville, LA. Adams became ill while providing care for his two Co. E comrades and died on 28 January 1863 at the Moyes Plantation. Scarborough also died, possibly a day or two earlier. The burial site is almost certainly at or near the Moyes plantation, but is not known to the best of my knowledge.

I have a picture, and a photo of a charcoal drawing done from the picture, of Daniel F. Adams which was kindly provided by one of Adams descendants.

Hope this helps
