John Thomas Lee was born on 10 November 1847 in Henry County, Tennessee. He died on 4 February 1935 in Franklin County, Alabama and is buried there at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. The family story handed down is that, as a young teenager, he was with General Albert Sidney Johnston when Gen. Johnston was mortally wounded in the leg and bled out at Shiloh. Is it possible that this did occur? I have heard that the General Polk you mentioned was at Shiloh. I'm fully prepared emotionally to find that it is only a fictitious family tale, but I do want to find out beyond any doubt whether it possibly occurred or not.
Thank you for the information about the pre-12th partisan ranger unit. That is valuable information. And of course, thank you for looking into this for me. I appreciate it very much.
