Faulkner's Twelfth Kentucky Cavalry did operate much of the time behind the lines in the areas of West Tennessee and West Kentucky that the men were recruited from, but took part in the battles of Forrest's Kentucky brigade except for Paducah when they were instead in the battle at Union City the day before.
Barlow's mention of Lieut. Torian as leading their company after deserters is interesting and is likely true and could show that Barlow at least served with the Twelfth at the very end of the War.
