I tend to agree. On page 53 of "This Most Bloody & Cruel Drama: A History of the 31st Georgia Volunteer Infantry" author Gregory White states, “An exploding shell injured the right thigh and both arms of William D. Barkley, “Monroe Crowders.” [Sharpsburg]. I'm trying to contact the author to see if he has anything to add since his book was published 15 years ago. I wish I could find a complete casualty list for the 31st GA at Sharpsburg, but I don't know which period Georgia newspaper might have published one. I wasn't able to find one on the Fold3 website.
