Re: Pvt. William D. Barkley, Co. D, 31st GA

Hello,

The source for Barkley's wounding story came from his Confederate pension application, filed in Bibb County, GA.

The 31st GA casualty list for Sharpsburg, MD (9/17/1862) was published in the 10/27/1862 "Columbus Daily Times".

I believe Monroe County (Forsyth, GA) had a weekly publication, but there are no known surviving copies that I am
aware of. I've located a lot of war-related Monroe County info. in the "Macon Telegraph" newspaper. Macon is in neighboring Bibb County.

I'd love to obtain a copy of your Barkley image. I'm toying with the idea of writing a Maryland Campaign history
for Lawton's Brigade (13th-26th-31st-38th-60th & 61st GA regiments).

Six of my ancestors served in Company D ("Monroe Crowders") with Barkley.

Sincerely,
