Pvt. William D. Barkley, Co. D, 31st GA
Greetings. I'm looking for information on Pvt. William D. Barkley, Co. D, 31st GA, who wounded at Sharpsburg. "A history of the 31st Georgia Volunteer Infantry:
Lawton-Gordon-Evans Brigade Army of Northern Virginia Confederate States of America 1861-1865," by Gregory C. White, page 53, mentions his wound. However, I don't have a copy of this book (I Googled this information) and would like to know the source of this information, if it was footnoted. Any other information (biography, obituary, prior service) would be much appreciated, as well as copies of images of 31st GA soldiers. I'm purchasing a 1/9th plate ambrotype of Pvt. Barkley, and would like to compare his uniform with other known 31st GA, or Georgia troops from early in the war. Thanks, Scott
