Thanks for the reply and information. I was able to view his medical file? on the Fold3 site which contained much of this data. Is that the file you're referring to? I wish I had an obituary, biography or grave site for him. Today I wrote the the historical society in Forsyth, Monroe County, and posted on their Facebook page. For some reason, I'm not too optimistic they'll be able to add anything. I'm guessing that a newspaper wasn't published in Monroe County during the Civil War. If not, what paper would carry Monroe County news? From his records he was illiterate, so there goes the chance of any soldier's letters! I'd still like to learn more about their participation in the battle of Sharpsburg. Thanks very much for helping me research this brave soldier.
