I just wanted to give you my opinion on your flag.I think the style is legitimate,without the white border on the St.Andrews cross,some Texas and Western Rebels used that style,but the flag is in WAY TOO GOOD of shape to be authentic,as most surving flags are in very threadbare condition,(that i have seen) and you should hold a blacklight over it as new stuff will usually "glow".The papers and story could be clever fabrications on the part of a fraudster,but at any rate you should seek a second or third opinion,one from an expert on Civil War flags,preferably BEFORE you or anyone spends the Hundreds or Thousands that these flags might go for.If it should turn out to be authentic,then you have a hell of a flag,if not you have a nice reproduction,but it should be represented and sold as such --REPRODUCTION.
