.. Yes its true... This being an anniversary year, and the state of the economy, less and less native Federal units are making the trip south to events in Va... So the ratio of respective sides tends to get far lopsided. Our unit normally portrays the 14th Va... but due to necessity we like many others galvanize when needed. In our unit our motto is "We are Historians First"... thus able to portray what is needed whatever that might be at the time, period political issues aside. We decided on the 106th PV since no one was portraying them. They dont have the fame factor such as the 5th NY, 69thNY, or 20th Maine, which wasnt desired, and avoiding any unit ID conflicts of using a unit someone else already was doing... Also of interest is that the 14th Va and 106th PV opposed each other in a number of engagements... most notibly at the angle in Picketts Charge..

In regards to the Pa state flags made note of the different suppliers contracted to provide them... Looked for unit ID marking habits between them to see if such a pattern can be determined... as well as time frames.. Have already studied others in the same brigade... others recieving a flag around the same time frame, to try to establish an historial "best guess" of what it most likely was... But was hoping to locate some alternate reference or a mention somewhere of what it might have been to add further clue and confirmation if it can be found.. Not as well versed in researching resources on Federal flags, so its a learning experience on this one as well...

Found online image of their first issued flag... but havent located an image nor description for their reported surviving second issue flag, so dont know what it looked like or said on it.. Have looked around for the books mentioned but havent found them yet...

Another specific item of interest is HQ, Camp and Flank Marker Flags (both sides).... a topic seldom spoken of and obviously much less interest in to most historians...
