Hi Josh,

Agreed that Admiral Preble made some mistakes, however, most of his information is based on first hand witnesses of events. If you count in Gherardi Davis research along with Quaife and Lossing, he hit the mark on much of his research. One of the biggest boo boo was of his illustrator, who did not follow Preble’s written description on the now famous “Don’t Tread On Me” flag used as a jack in todays Navy.
