Many Union flags were captured at Chancellorsville and at Salem Church and when the 6th Corps crossed the Rappahannock River over the U.S. Ford.
Just off memory the 102nd Pennsylvania infantry regiment threw one of their flags into the river to prevent the flag from being captured. The Confederates did "Fish" it out. But there are several flags reported captured with no information on them.
