Thank you Danny. This clears up a lot about the 38th, and what happened with Coleman's Regiment. I noticed Company E Coleman's was not listed as officially mustering in Because Captain Wiley C Jones was a POW along with several of his men, and the rest of the company scattered joining other companies. Several of them wound up in the 10th Missouri and later on the 38th Arkansas.
It is also Interesting to Note, Captain John C McKinney had been a Private and Corporal in the 7th Arkansas, then 10th Missouri as a Captain. Captain McKinney was the son of the man who owned the property of the Smithville Skirmish. in 1868, John C McKinney inherited the farm.
