How would it have been captured at Pine Bluff? Sounds like someone is making up a story to demand a higher price.

Everyone seems to use the Battle of Pine Bluff as a "Black Hole" of information because of the lack of information in Ed Bears article of the subject. Bearss didn't do his homework and relied on local rumors for details outside the Official Records. I don't know how many time people who are looking for what happened to their GGrandfather think that they died during the Battle of Pine Bluff.

General Maraduke in his order book wrote a detail after action summary to include all the names and units of his casualities, except for Newtons Brigade. "New" information has revealed a strickenly different viewpoint of the Battle than that contained in Bearss article which has been rewritten (includng the mistakes) over and over again by other authors.
