The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Adam Raedels G Co/12 Michigan Inf

Great to hear from you again.
I actually spoke to the people who are the Arnold Foundation in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas.
Mr. Bill Arnold himself said they would truly love to have a photo of the brother who died
and the brother who served and survived. Plus, if you ever come this way, they would be
delighted to show you what they have done with their museum. You may even get lucky
and get a walking trip to where the different military sites were.
It was a huge Union base of operations at the time. i think I was told there were like
eight huge barns that horses and mules were kept in. There was a hospital, and all the usual
stuff associated with a military base.
Truthfully, they had a lot of interaction with the locals, and after the war, some of the men
stayed or else returned to the area. Also, there are people who show up all the time wanting
to see where their ancestor served, etc. It happens all the time, so feel free to come on down.
