John W. Harris is buried in Friendship Cemetery in northeastern Cleveland Co., Arkansas. His middle name was Wesley. According to his tombstone he was born in 1841, and died October 20, 1931. His tombstone notes his Confederate army service. His wife's name was Nancy J. Her grave is next to his. She died 16 years before he did (3/26/1915). According to census information he was born in Mississippi, though his muster record says North Carolina. In the 1880 census (Miller township) they have four children. My grandfather said this was the brother of my great-great-grandfather Geo. W. Harris, who also served in the 1st Indiana Cavalry, joining 10 days before on November 5. I know he applied for a pension, but I do not have that record yet. I have not been able to definitely connect them yet. I thought there might be some information in his records that would help.
