Re: Lt. Col. Charles L. Young, 32nd AR

It's inconceivable that a Jackson County man of military age could have avoided military service. Since the only Charles Young unaccounted for anywhere else is the Jackson County man, it seems logical that he must be Charles L. Young, captain of a Jackson County company, who is otherwise unaccounted for in any census.

Of one thing I am certain, Charles Young of Izard County is the man in the 27th Arkansas. I've done extensive research on the 27th Arkansas (some of my ancestors served in the regiment) and have a pretty good handle on the identities of most of the men -- though, as is the case with just about every Arkansas regiment, there are still some mystery men who cannot be identified. It seems to go with the territory when researching Arkansas regiments.
