Lt. Col. Charles L. Young, 32nd AR

This officer, KIA at Prairie Grove, has proven elusive. He was chosen captain of company G 6-13-62, promoted to major 7-17-62 and to LC 8-6-62. The CSR gives no personal details. It appears he was from Jackson County, as were the other members of his company. The only "C. Young" in the 1860 census of Jackson County is an 18 year old Jacksonport clerk, born TN. This might be the Charles Young b. 1841, son of Christian Young of Izard County, who is said in a family website to have been killed in the war. The 1860 census doesn't show a more suitable candidate.
