There were bits and pieces of several regiments within Confederate lines at Port Hudson. Most of these men were in hospital, on detached duty, or on other special service when Banks' army surrounded the place. Many of these small detachments ended up serving along the southern part of the trenches with Miles' Louisiana Legion.
