Anthony, yes the skirmish you mention was Oct. 23, 1864. Major Elliott's confederate cavalry trailed the Union army to near Hurricane Creek harassing them and trying to grab some stragglers, but the Union Army kept a sharp look out and tightened up to avoid this. On May,3 1864 Elliot's horsemen broke contact and went to Benton and on down to Pratt's Ferry where he received orders to rejoin Gen. Shelby's command. R.D.
