"I.N." is apparently "Indian Nations" though C.N. for Choctaw Nation is the common designation.
Fort McCulloch, Choctaw Nation was 20 miles or more south on Blue River near Nail's Bridge. The fort was constructed after the Battle of Pea Ridge and named after Ben McCulloch, of course. It was Pike's headquarters in 1862 for the Indian Territory until he resigned his commission.
I know some research has been done to identify the men buried at Atoka and I believe they are all of Dawson's Regt. This certainly locates them near there. Either their camp or just their hospital must have been there. This is a strategic location for the Indian Territory being just south of the junction of the roads to Texas from Ft Scott, Kansas via Ft Gibson, Cherokee Nation and the road from Ft Smith.
Any references to residences and other landmarks would certainly help as to the location of the regiment or, more likely, help with understanding the area. There is so little information on the area during the war.
