I don't know if this will be of any help to you. It's a transcription of a document we came across a few years back.
I CERTIFY, that the within John E. Flowers , a Private of Captain
W.B. Speir's Inft Company, ( A ) of the 19th Regiment of Ark. bat C.S.A.
born 1831 in the State of South Carolina aged 30 years, 6
feet 1 inches high, fair complexion, Blue eyes, light hair, and by occupation
a Blacksmith , was enlisted by Col. C. L. Dawson at Antoine, Ark
on the 10th day of October , 1861, to serve One years, and is now entitled to discharge by
reason of He died near Muddy Bogg I. N. on 15th of April 1862 from sickness
The said John E. Flowers was last paid by was never paid anything
to include the day of 186 , and has pay due from that date to the present date
He has pay due him from the date of enlistment to date of his death
There is due him nothing 100 Dollars traveling allowances from
, the place of discharge, to the place
of enrollment, transportation not being furnished in kind.
He rcd $50.00 10th June 1862 by ???????????
There is due him Commutation money at 100 Dollars Fort McCulloch, I.N.
He is indebted to the Confederate States Twenty Seven Dollars 100 on account of
Clothing Draws at Muddy Bogg I.N.
Given in duplicate this 15th day of April 1862
