Absolutely! Can you contact him Ken? Perhaps he is aware of some reference to the short time they were in Indian Territory.

I would be particularly interested if anyone kept a diary or journal concerning their march from Ft Smith down to the vicinity of Ft McCulloch and their march back to Arkansas -- these often give landmarks, residences, and other descriptions of which there are very few for the Indian Territory. Of course, I'm also interested in where they were camped and their 'assignment' while there. I believe there are a dozen or so graves at the cemetery near Atoka OK where they may have been stationed to watch for invasion from Ft Scott KS or from Ft Smith AR. Gen Pike was convinced that with Arkansas essentially abandoned, the Union forces would sweep through Arkansas and the Indian Territory into Northern Texas.
