It would appear that a number of men must have been recruited into the 3rd West Tennessee Cavalry by Col. Kendrick. But, are their any records to be found? Unfortunately, I live way out West. Would love to visit the State Archives in Nashville and Washington, DC.
L. H. Parham, on May 4, 1864, in testimony before Mr. Gooch of the House of Representatives Joint Select Committee on the Conduct of the war, reported he was a native of West Tennessee and a member of the 3rd West Tennessee Cavalry [USA, Company B], and taken prisoner in Henry County, West Tennessee. He died at the U. S. General Hospital, Annapolis, Md. May 11, 1864 of starvation, the “effects of treatment while in the hands of the enemy.” He had arrived from Richmond, Va. May 2 on the Steamer New York.
There is no record of his service other than US hospital and burial records found in the 3rd Tennessee Cavalry, USA, compiled service records.
