Re: Capture of Yankee Recruiting Officers

“Capture of Yankee Recruiting Officers.—
Col. Roddy's command last week captured in Tennessee Col. Wm. P. Kendrick, of the 3d Tennessee (Yankee) regiment, and Capt. Daniel E. Bonham, of the same regiment, both engaged in recruiting in Tennesse for the Federals.”

I find neither of these two officers in any CW roster. However, I found this record in a miscellaneous file which is at variance with the newspaper article.

W. P. Kendrick, Colonel, 3rd W. Tennessee, captured at Corinth, Miss. June 10, 1863, confined at Richmond, Va. September 26, 1863, escaped from Richmond, Va. February 9, 1864. Reported at Camp Parole, Md. Ordered to join regiment. Permission to delay 30 days enroute, S. O. 82, Feb. 16, 1865
