Hello, All:

Thanks to all who posted on this thread & helped to shed some light on the mysteries therein. Before making the original post, I had checked around a little & knew there were problems afoot. I was hoping some of you brighter than I folks could figure out what the hay was going on, but, perhaps, this one will remain a poser for a while yet. That's one of the really great things concerning the multi-faceted, many splendered, and totally convoluted epic saga of the Civil War. So much to do, so little time.

It occurs to me this & similar material would make a good chapter in a Civil War book: "Unsolved Mysteries of the Epic War," perhaps.
