I have run across about 50 men from the 9th Alabama Battalion and 9th Alabama Cavalry who were erroneously listed as 9th Alabama Infantry- both with the ADAH online list, and in the National Archives. They are realtively easy to spot when the engagement list starts out with "Shiloh, Hoover's Gap...Tullahoma." I've been in their files a lot working on several ancestors in that unit. The ones I have the biggest problem with are the soldiers who just have the basic information listed: name, rank. company, enlistment date, and the place where they enlisted. Nothing on engagements and/or their outcomes (killed, wounded. missing...). I've run into a lot of these on the National Archives rolls. They appear to be from muster rolls, but the muster rolls I do have for the 9th list the engagements and outcomes for each soldier.

Anyway, thanks for the input. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
