I could use a little advice: I'm currently cleaning-up my database for the 9th Alabama Regiment. At the moment, I am showing about 1,600 men who served with the 9th during the war, and I have about another 100 names that are generally listed as 9th Alabama, but do not have any real documentation to support it. I have used the ADAH and National Archives files to docement most of the members, along with some rosters that I do have from other sources.

Are there other company rosters at the ADAH that are separate from their online database? Do they have copies of the rosters of the companies that appeared in local newspapers during the war? Can copies of any of these be ordered? Are there any online sites that have the rosters of the 9th Alabama companies?

For those of you who do research for putting together company rosters and databases, is there a criteria that you use for adding, or not adding, a soldier to a database?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
