Thank you so much, E. D! and George? That's the kind of stuff I was looking for. I have William Robert Alexander Burts' 1921 census of confederate soldiers and in it he lists his capt as Sam Davidson and Colonel as "Garrett". I know that this gentleman was KIA. One of the others (Henry Kinard) was shot through "both shoulders" @ the battle of Vicksburg according to his widows' pension application (Margaret) and could "never work well again". I've only captured bits and peices of these folk over the years...and I'm so looking forward to seeing something concrete that I can connect with them. Again...many thanks.
