Happy Memorial Day, folks. We are headed to Vicksburg to the National Military Park. I have 5 Alabama ancestors who were in the 20th Alabama (one in Co F-the other four in Co H) and according to Ken Jones' most excellent site.....during the seige, the 20th manned the line just to the left of Square Fort. I'm looking forward to standing where these brave men once stood. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding other civil war related places in the area? I'm sure I'll get more info once I'm there but I'm curious if anyone else may have visited/lived in the area?
