All enlistments were for twelve months, so the discharge date and regiment number fall within the correct range. Galvanized Yankees served in regiments numbered first through six U.S. volunteers. Service records are on a separate NA microcopy; don't recall the number, but it'd be worth checking with your librarian.But it's just a theory.... We could confirm it by finding a C.S.A. service record which should include a record of Federal imprisonment and a record of discharge on enollment in frontier service.
