Acknowledged the extent of the undertaking.. Many years ago I attempted to research what exists of those records.. The City of Richmond reported to have the original.. no one could see those... The Virginia State Archives had a copy on microfilm.. These I tried to look through but the quality of the frames was much to be desired.. This of course was long before digital anything and the internet. Point being if what they have was posted.. they would gain more interest, and obtain more hords of data from decendants..ie: confirmation or corrected spellings.. inclusion of first names if the initial is only thing on the record etc.. Records being as they are frequently have mispellings and errors in them.. (the 1869 listing of Hollywood Cemetery dead is a good example)... would it not be more benefitial to properly research the data and cross check with other historians and even decendants before its rushed to be "chisled in stone" with probable errors...do as much as possible to get it right the first time around.. Understand the plight and task the SCV has gone through.. now that they have made headway.. and getting closer to the goal.. they have the opportunity to tap into a vast hoard of historians that can assist the endevor.. thus it wont have to be just a dedicated "few".. Lots of folks with the knowledge and willing to assist.. but doesnt seem the SCV will open that door.. as if its just their own private sand box and all others not allowed to get near.. nor respond to inquiries reference same.. Thats unfortunately the observation and opinion that many are starting to have on this subject...
